As Mona watched her monitor, the camera view panned across ten armored soldiers of the CLI, slim, urban exoskeletons shifting as the men inside them checked their weapons, and sensors, rarely looking at the man in the center of the lift. Eric was prostrate on a stretcher, strapped down, attended by five doctors, all dressed in sterile white. His eyes darted back and forth, sometime at the camera, sometimes at his captors. The Undercity pt10The city was on fire. Nothing could quench the flames that sprang up once the head of the giant was cut off. The military cracked down, the mayor was presumed dead, the lifts to the undercity were demolished, and people disappeared in the night. In the background of lurked a rising rage, an accelerant that would take this fire from flames licking the base of a tree, to a fire that would demolish the entire forest, destroying everything and leaving only tiny green shoots to bring life to a wasteland.
